*The first session of the day was full of surprises in the Prototype ranks. The Deltawing and LMP2 cars swept the top five, leaving the Daytona Prototypes behind. Katherine Legge set the fastest lap time of 1:40.137. It is great to see the Deltawing showcase some fantastic speed, especially in a straight line! Michael Shank Racing’s Ligier JS P2 was second, Mazda set their best lap time yet: 1:40.794. Really encouraging for the new engine to show some great potential. Both Mazda entries were third and fourth, with Tequila Patrón ESM rounding out the top five. The Number 5 Action Express Racing was the first of the Daytona Prototype cars in sixth place. Looks like the DP vs P2 debate will continue! The Number 88 Starworks Oreca FLM09 machine led Prototype Challenge with a lap time of 1:43.175.*

*Corvette Racing led GTLM with a lap time of 1:45.256, while Chip Ganassi Racing’s Ford GT and Scuderia Corsa’s new Ferrari 488 round out the top three. It is amazing to see the new Ford and Ferrari right on pace with the Corvettes. I cannot wait to see some of the best GT racing on this planet! Konrad Motorsport’s Lamborghini Huracán GT3 led the way in the GTD with a lap time of 1:48.553, while Change Racing and Alex Job Racing round out the top three.*

*It appears that TRG-AMR is planning a full season assault for the GTD Championship with its 007 Aston Martin Vantage GT3.*

*O’Gara Motorsport will most likely field a second Lamborghini Huracán GT3 later in the season. This is a very smart idea to start with one car, then work your way up to two full-time entries. I wish them the best of luck as they step up to the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.*

*Wayne Taylor Racing’s Corvette DP led the second practice session of the day with a lap time of 1:40.032. It was great to see a Daytona Prototype team find some speed after it has been an LMP2 and Deltawing dominating weekend. The Number 55 Mazda LMP2 car finished a surprising second with a lap time of 1:40.055! This team keeps on improving and I am excited to see them race in a few weeks. Tequila Patrón ESM rounds out the top three. PR1/Mathisen Motorsports led Prototype Challenge with a lap time of 1:43.261.*

*Scuderia Corsa led GTLM with a lap time of 1:45.266. This team is doing so well in their debut weekend with the new Ferrari 488 prancing horse. Memo Rojas got some laps in and it would not surprise me if the team asked him to join them for the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Ford GT and Corvette Racing round out the top three. Konrad Motorsport led GTD with a lap time of 1:48.309, followed by Riley Motorsports and Spirit of Race. It appears that the GT Daytona class is going to be extremely competitive as they are using full GT3-spec machinery.*

*Michael Shank Racing’s Ligier led the night practice session with a lap time of 1:39.687. I believe that this squad is ready for the Rolex 24 as they have set a blistering pace all weekend! Panoz Deltawing Racing and Wayne Taylor Racing round out the top three. The Number 8 Starworks Motorsport LMPC machine led Prototype Challenge with a lap time of 1:43.291. The second Starworks entry and PR1/Mathisen Motorsports round out the top three.*

*Team RLL’s new BMW M6 GTLM led GT Le Mans with a lap time of 1:45.510, Chip Ganassi Racing’s two new Ford GT’s round out the top three. The Ford GT is definitely showing some great pace. It would not surprise me if they win on debut. Paul Miller Racing led the way in GTD with a lap time of 1:48.230. They are doing an amazing job with their new Lamborghini Huracán GT3. Spirit of Race and O’Gara Motorsport round out the top three.*
