Pla joins Michael Shank Racing for NAEC Rounds

Michael Shank Racing has confirmed that Olivier Pla will join the team for Rolex 24 at Daytona and the remaining North American Endurance Cup rounds.

This is going to be an extremely busy season for Pla as he adds the IMSA endurance races to his Ford GT duties in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

“I’m very happy to join Michael Shank Racing and to share the car with John (Pew), Ozz (Negri) and AJ (Allmendinger),” said Pla

I am extremely excited to see Pla join Negri Jr., Pew, and Allmendinger as he has tons on experience in the Onroak chassis. This team is definitely going to be a contender on Sunday, January 31st.

Pla stated, “It’s a very strong lineup and I know this car very well. I’ve had a lot of time in the Ligier and know how capable this car is. I spent a little bit of time getting to know the guys at the test in Daytona last month and I think we can expect a strong result. Everybody at Michael Shank Racing has been very welcoming. I’m eager to get going and see what we can do.”

In my opinion, Olivier Pla is one of the best LMP2 drivers in the world. He did a wonderful job for Onroak in his role developing the Ligier chassis. Last year, Pla qualified on pole with the Krohn Racing Ligier JS P2-Judd for the 12 Hours of Sebring. If he continues to display this speed, then Michael Shank Racing is going be a very dangerous team. Four talented drivers in a proven LMP2 machine equals success in endurance races.
